Live, Laugh, Love, Dance

After what turned out to be a rather lengthy hiatus I am back to blogging. Time flies by so quickly and before you know it one, two, three years.... a whole lifetime has gone by. I took what I thought was a short break from blogging and posting articles online turns out a whole two years have gone by. In the intervening period I slowed down on my creative pursuits but still did a few art commissions as well as gifts for family and friends. Now I am back to my creative ventures, my muse burst forth with a vengeance in December last year. Looks like she won’t be silenced anymore. I have notebooks and sketchpads full of ideas just waiting to be brought forth. I was hoping to catch the January wave but I missed it, so I will be starting with February the season of love. Here is a sketch I did in January to start off the New Year on a wave of inspiration. Wishing all of my readers a blessed New Year and a fulfilled life. Look out for the new Love Collection art pieces I am doing for February.

Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.

Inspirational Metal Art: Basket of Butterflies

Earlier this year I received a request to do a commission of three metal paintings featuring young women. The commission was for a young women's institution with a focus on leadership. So I wanted to do paintings which were inspirational and which at the same time captured the essence of young women. While working on the commission I created a few other paintings and this is one of them. The butterfly is symbolic of inspiration, flight and freedom.

Music Art Gifts

Last year my brother-in-law Ed, commissioned me to do a music art gift for his musician friend Steve Coleman. I modeled the art piece on some of my previous music art work including Sax Player and Guitar Player. I added a few personal touches based on what my brother-in-law told me about Steve such as the backward baseball cap and engraved astrological symbols on the border of the art piece. Here is a photograph of Steve's art gift and other pieces from my music art collection. All of the original art pieces are acrylic paintings on metal and have been sold however, they are available online as art prints and products at my FineArtAmerica gallery.

Abstract African Art Painting: Family Unity

Last year one of my clients requested an art piece based on the theme of family. Unlike most of my art pieces this particular piece is an acrylic painting on paper. The client requested a painting in earth tones and did not mind a medium other than metal. Because of the sheen I usually get on metal paintings and my temptation to emboss every metal art piece I do, I decided to stick to paper. This is the first art piece in my family art collection.

Upcoming Website and Change In Poetry Posts

I have finally began building my new website and I am really excited about it. However, due to Google's rules on duplicate content I will not be able to post any of my new poetry on this blog until after I have posted it on my new website. Consequently, for the next few months you will not be seeing any new poetry posts however, I will continue to post my art work on this blog. Once my new website is up and running I will post a few poems here. In the meantime I hope you will enjoy reading the poems available and viewing my artwork. Thanks for stopping by my poetry and art blog.
